CAFE (Coalition for the Advancement of Financial Education) Montgomery MD and Family Services, Inc. are hosting the annual free Financial Capability Symposium to engage fellow stakeholders to better understand the needs, challenges, best practices and opportunities in delivering financial education and capability programs for our county’s most vulnerable members, including low income families, young people, seniors, and disabled people. The morning will include a continental breakfast, networking opportunities, and break-out sessions on "Credit as An Asset" and "Know Before You Owe: Student Loan Options and Resources". Speakers include Dara Duguay, Executive Director of Credit Builders Alliance; Isaiah Ellis, with Maryland Higher Education Commission; Kat Hyland, Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition; and Nina Heck, Guidewell Financial Solutions. Please note: Park in the Parking Garage on the campus and the Conference Center is the building next to the Garage. Directions can be found here. Established in 2006, CAFE Montgomery MD is a coalition of county government agencies, non-profits, educational institutions, businesses and volunteers whom are dedicated to helping Montgomery County residents obtain the financial education needed to make informed money decisions. CAFE Montgomery MD is an affiliate of Family Services, Inc., a part of the Sheppard Pratt Health System. FSI provides high-quality services to foster health and well-being in the home, school and community. Founded in 1908, FSI serves over 25,000 of the most vulnerable residents and operates over 36 programs throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. FSI provides a wide array of programs and services which address Integrated Health and Behavioral Health; Children, Youth and Families; Victim and Domestic Violence and Community Support Services.
